MFDA Hearing Panel issues Reasons for Decision in the matter of Rupinder K. Bhathal

November 21, 2016 (Toronto, Ontario) – A Hearing Panel of the Pacific Regional Council of the Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (“MFDA”) has issued its Reasons for Decision (“Reasons for Decision”) in connection with a disciplinary hearing held in Vancouver, British Columbia on October 6, 2016 in the matter of Rupinder K. Bhathal (the “Respondent”). In its Reasons for Decision dated November 21, 2016, the Hearing Panel confirmed the following sanctions imposed on the Respondent:

  • a permanent prohibition on the authority of the Respondent to conduct securities related business while in the employ of or associated with any Member of the MFDA;
  • a global fine in the amount of $155,000; and
  • costs in the amount of $10,000.

A copy of the Reasons for Decision is available on the MFDA website at www.mfda.ca. During the period described in the Reasons for Decision, the Respondent carried on business in the Abbotsford, British Columbia area.
