MFDA Hearing Panel reserves judgment on penalty in the matter of George Pretty
May 23, 2014 (Toronto, Ontario) – The Mutual Fund Dealers Association of Canada (“MFDA”) commenced a disciplinary proceeding in respect of Arthur George Pretty by Notice of Hearing dated August 31, 2012.
Submissions by the parties with respect to penalty took place today by teleconference before a three-member Hearing Panel of the MFDA’s Atlantic Regional Council. The Panel reserved its decision on penalty and advised that it will issue its decision and written reasons in due course.
The MFDA is the self-regulatory organization for Canadian mutual fund dealers, regulating the operations, standards of practice and business conduct of its 111 Members and their approximately 80,000 Approved Persons with a mandate to protect investors and the public interest.
