Regional Council Elections

The MFDA is pleased to announce the initiation of steps to establish Regional Councils in each
of the MFDA's four Regions: Atlantic Region; Ontario Region; Prairie Region and Pacific

The first part of the process to establish Regional Councils is to conduct elections of Member
representatives in each of the Regions. The process will be conducted using mail-in Nomination
Forms and Election Ballots provided by the MFDA.

The number of individuals to be elected to each Regional Council has been determined by the
Board as follows:

Atlantic Region:

10 elected representatives
Ontario Region:

20 elected representatives
Prairie Region:

15 elected representatives
Pacific Region:

15 elected representatives

The MFDA has forwarded to each Member a Nomination Package inviting Members to
nominate eligible candidates for election to the Regional Council in those Regions where the
Member has its head office or a branch office.

An individual is eligible to be nominated by a Member in a Region if:

The individual is resident in that Region; and

The individual is partner, officer, director, employee or agent of a Member in the

Elected representatives on Regional Councils are entitled to attend and vote at meetings of the
Regional Council. Also, they are eligible to be selected to sit as members of Hearing Panels that
may be created from time to time to conduct MFDA disciplinary proceedings.

The Nomination Process is open for a period of 4 weeks and the due date for the return of
Nomination Forms by Members to the MFDA is Friday, April 2, 2004.

Following completion of the Nomination Process, Members in each Region will receive an
Election Ballot containing the names of all eligible candidates nominated for election to the
Regional Council in that Region. Members will have a period of 4 weeks to record their voting
choices on the Election Ballot and return their Election Ballot to the MFDA. The individuals
receiving the most number of votes recorded on Election Ballots returned to the MFDA will be
elected to the applicable Regional Council.
