Regional Council Update – Election Ballot Process for Ontario Region

The MFDA recently conducted a 4-week nomination process, which ended on March 31, 2006,
during which Members were invited to nominate eligible candidates for election to the Regional
Councils in each of the MFDA’s four Regions (Atlantic, Ontario, Prairie and Pacific).

The number of candidates nominated for election to the Atlantic, Prairie and Pacific Regional
Councils was lower than the number of positions available on those Regional Councils as
determined by the MFDA Board of Directors. As a result, candidates nominated in those Regions
have been elected by acclamation and will assume office effective June 2, 2006.

In the Ontario Region, 21 individuals were nominated for election to the 20 positions available
on the Ontario Regional Council. As a result, the MFDA will conduct a mail-in Election Ballot
process for the election of Member representatives to the Ontario Regional Council.

Each Member with a principal office or branch office in Ontario will receive an Election Ballot
Package, inviting them to vote for up to 20 of the 21 eligible nominees. The Election Ballot
Package includes a copy of each candidate’s resumé in booklet form, an Election Ballot and a
letter with instructions on how to complete the Election Ballot.

The deadline for returning completed Election Ballots to the MFDA is Monday, May 8, 2006.

The names of representatives elected to all four MFDA Regional Councils will be announced
following completion of the Election Ballot Process for the Ontario Regional Council.
